Rental Shop Technician

Overview: A Rental Shop Technician at Ski Big Bear provides guest services related to the correct selection, fitting, and renting of both ski and snowboard equipment. They assist with various functions related to maintaining efficient and high-quality operations of the rental shop. Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain is often a fast-paced environment, especially during holiday and peak days.  Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed or icy terrain. 

 

Essential Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned): 

  • Have a desire to help beginner skiers/riders into the proper equipment.

  • Fit boots, skis, snowboards and/or poles to guests based on their height, weight, age, and ability

  • Adjust bindings and other equipment according to proper fit and functionality

  • Maintain rental inventory through our software and by order within the shop

  • Assist with the testing of equipment

  • Arrive on time and maintain a well-groomed appearance

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong personal character and commitment to success of winter season at Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain

  • Ability to stay positive, focused, and constructive when faced with setbacks, challenges, and while working in an ever-changing environment

  • Have confidence in customer service and working with people

  • Be open to a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Be a motivated individual and work to the best of your ability with a positive attitude

  • Must pass product manufacturer’s certifications (on the job training provided)

  • Must be able to perform data entry using a keyboard and scanner

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods of time

  • Must have transportation to and from work even in snowy or icy conditions

  • Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff

  • Must be able to bend, kneel, reach at heights about one’s head

  • Must be able to operate computer and navigate software program using keyboard and scanners

 

Job Relationships:

  • Reports to Rental Shop Manager, Supervisors

  • Works closely with the general public including children

  • Interrelationships: works closely and communicates effectively with Snow Sports School Department employees, Patrol, other mountain personnel.
